  touchstone, on which pure gold leaves a yellow streak, ἐς βάσανον δ᾽ ἐλθὼν παρατρίβομαι ὥστε μολύβδῳ χρυσός Theognis Elegiacus 417; χρυσὸν τριβόμενον βασάνῳ prev. author 450, compare 1105; παρατρίβεσθαι πρὸς τὰς β.
