Theognis Elegiacus 633, Sophocles Tragicus “Ajax” 433, etc.; δὶς ἢ τ. Aristophanes Comicus “Pax” 1181 (troch.); τ. τετράκι τε Pindarus Lyricus “N.” 7.104; ἐς τ. thrice, prev. author “O.” 2.68, Herodotus Historicus 1.86, 5.105, “GDI” iv p.884 (Erythrae, 4th c.BC), Theocritus Poeta Bucolicus 1.25, 2.43; ἐπὶ τρίς thrice, NT.Acts.10.16, 11.10, Dioscorides (Dioscurides) Medicus “Eup.” 2.19; frequently used merely to intensify the notion, τ. λελουμένη Eubulus Comicus 102, etc.; especially in compounds, such as τρισάθλιος, τρίσμακαρ, etc., compare τρι-, τριάζω, τρικυμί; but such words may sometimes be written divisim, τρὶς ἄθλιος, etc.: proverbial, τ. ἓξ βαλεῖν throw thrice six (the highest throw, there being three dice), Aeschylus Tragicus “Agamemnon” 33, compare Plato Philosophus “Leges” 968e; τρὶς ἓξ νικητήριος βόλος “App. Prov.” 4.99; ἢ τ. ἓξ ἢ τρεῖς κύβοι Pherecrates Comicus 124. ῐ: in Hesiodus Epicus “Opera et Dies” 173 long by position before (ϝ) έτεος.
