  adverb (lengthened ἐχθές (which see); where the word occurs in < and χθέ; χθές is not found in Ptolemaic papyri, but in “PLond.” 2.161.8 (3rd c.AD)) :—yesterday, hymnus ad Mercurium 273, Thucydides Historicus 3.113, Plato Philosophus “Respublica” 327a, “Smp.” 174a, etc.: frequently placed between Art. and substantive, ἡ χ. ὁμολογία, οἱ χ. λόγοι, Plato Philosophus “Sophista” 216a, “Ti.” 26e; τῇ χ. ἡμέρᾳ Plutarchus Biographus et Philosophus 2.773e ; χ. μὲν.., τὰ νῦν δὲ.. Plato Philosophus “Timaeus” 17a: frequently πρώην τε καὶ χ., χ. καὶ πρώην, see at {πρώην} 11 ; χ. καὶ τρίτην ἡμέραν variant in Xenophon Historicus “Institutio Cyri (Cyropaedia)” 6.3.11, cf.
