__I properly the lower girdle worn by women just above the hips, περὶ δὲ ζώνην βάλετ᾽ ἰξυῖ Odyssea Homerus Epicus “Odyssey” 5.231, 10.544, compare Ilias Homerus Epicus “Illiad” 14.181, Herodotus Historicus 1.51, etc. —Phrases:
__I.1 λῦσε δὲ παρθενίην ζ. unloosed her maiden girdle, of the bridegroom, Odyssea Homerus Epicus “Odyssey” 11.245, compare “Lyric poetry” “Alex.Adesp.” 11.18, Plutarchus Biographus et Philosophus “Lycurgus” 15 :—middle, of the bride, μούνῳ ἑνὶ ζώναν ἀνέρι λυσαμένα “Anthologia Graeca” 7.324 (hence ζώνη , absolutely, of marriage, Euripides Tragicus “Iphigenia Taurica” 204 (Lyric poetry) ; of sexual intercourse, Philostratus Sophista “Vita Apollonii” 7.6): but also,
