μωραίνω (< μωρός), [in LXX: Is 19:11, Je 10:14 28 (51):17 (בּער H1197 ni.), II Ki 24:10, Is 44:25 R (סכל H5528 ni., pi.)*;] 1. cl., to be foolish, play the fool. 2. LXX and NT, causal, to make foolish: I Co 1:20; pass., to become foolish: Ro 1:22; of salt that has lost its flavour, become tasteless: Mt 5:13, Lk 14:34.†

  future - ᾰνῶ Euripides Tragicus “Medea” 614 : aorist ἐμώρᾱνα Aeschylus Tragicus “Persae” 719 (troch.): —passive, see below 11 : (μῶρος):—to be silly, foolish, drivel, Euripides Tragicus same place, Xenophon Historicus “Memorabilia” 1.1.11, Philodemus Gadarensis Epigrammaticus “Mus.” p.103K., Lucianus Sophista “Nav.” 45, etc. ; play the fool, Aristoteles Philosophus “Ethica Nicomachea” 1148b2: with acc. cogn., πεῖραν μ. make a mad attempt, Aeschylus Tragicus same place ; οὐδεὶς.. ταῦτα μωραίνει indulges in these follies, Euripides Tragicus “Fragmenta” 282.22 : euphemistic of illicit love, γυναῖκα μωραίνουσαν prev. author “Andr.” 674.
