χορηγέω, -ῶ (< χορός, ἡγέομαι) [in LXX for כּוּל ^H3557 pilp. ;] 1. to lead a χορός (v. LS, s.v.). 2. to defray the cost of a χορός. 3. In late writers, metaph., c. acc. (v. M, Pr., 65), to supply, furnish abundantly: II Co 9:10, I Pe 4:11 (Polyb., al.).†

Boeotian dialect and Doric dialect χορ-ᾱγέω, “IG” 7.3210 (Orchom.), 12(1).383 (from Rhodes) , etc.:— lead a chorus, χορῷ Simonides Lyricus 147, Plato Philosophus “Gorgias” 482b (compare signification 11): with gen., χ. ἡμῶν prev. author “Lg.” 654a : hence metaphorically, take the lead in a matter, with genitive, τούτου τοῦ λόγου prev. author “Tht.” 179d.
