ψωμίζω (< ψωμός, a morsel), [in LXX chiefly for אכל ^H398 hi. ;] to feed with morsels (as children or the sick; Hippocr.), hence, generally, in late writers, to feed, nourish: c. acc. pers., Ro 12:20 (LXX); c. acc rei, to give out for food, I Co 13:3 (cf. WM, § 32, 4an; for dupl. acc., cf. Nu 11:4, Si 15:3, al.).†

future Attic dialect -ιῶ LXX.Num.11.4 :—feed by putting little bits into the mouth, as nurses do to children, Aristophanes Comicus “Thesmophoriazusae” 692, “Lys.” 19, Hippocrates Medicus “περὶ νούσων” 4.54 ; or sick people, prev. author “Epid.” 7.3; ψ. τινά τι LXX same place: —passive, ἐπίσταμαι γὰρ.., οἷς ψωμίζεται with what tit-bits he is fed, Aristophanes Comicus “Equites” 715.
